One of my favorite things to do is take a trip somewhere, preferably on a coastline. This year, I have been fortunate enough to travel a few different places, and recently just returned from my most favorite place in the world...San Diego, California.
This was my seventh visit, and it seems that each time I fly there, I fall more in love with the area. I've never been to a place where the climate is nearly perfect to enjoy the entire day outdoors. It's no exaggeration--beautiful blue skies, the bright shining sun, 70 degree temps, all combined with a nice breeze blowing in off the ocean makes San Diego quite appealing; especially when you're escaping the sweltering humidity of Southern Illinois.
Every trip I've had out there has had a different purpose from a business trip, to a girl's trip, to visiting friends and family. I have many favorite places to venture out to when I'm there. La Jolla is simply magical to explore the creatures in the tide pools and all the sea lions catching rays on the beach. Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach is always fun to walk out on to see the cottages and watch the fishermen. Downtown is a blast during Comic-Con for people watching and running into the stars. Midway aircraft carrier museum is both mind blowing and breathtaking. Coronado Island is unbelievable from its sparkling sand beaches, to its quaint neighborhoods, to the Naval base. Imperial Beach is low key and perfect to chill with some delicious street tacos and the ocean waves crashing behind you. The bottom line is San Diego is simply good for my soul. I feel an instant recharge soaking up the California sun and a calming relaxation while basking in the glorious sunsets. I'm pretty sure I left my heart in San Diego all those years ago and I look forward to many more journeys there.
